A notice has gone up in the window of the former Mary’s Living and Giving Shop in High Street on behalf of Superette Store Ltd.
It’s an application for a deli with “a small number of seats inside and out” serving alcohol and food – and for the purchase of alcohol with deli items to be taken away – from 8am to 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am until 8pm on Sundays.
Owned by John and Lucy Long, the first Superette opened in Highgate in 2020, followed by a second in Upper Street in 2021.
It sells cheese, wine, coffee, and carefully curated products such as Natoora dips, Payst Thai sauces, labneh from Bubala, kimchi from Shedlesky’s, and bread and bakery items from St John.
Cheese is sourced from La Fromagerie and coffee – including to-go – is from Climpson & Sons while bottles include artisan spirits and cocktails, and wine from Borough Wines.
Posting on a Highgate Facebook page one resident wrote: “Looks like Superette is coming to Highgate High Street, where the Mary Living and Giving shop was.”
The news was greeted positively with one commenting: “I hope this gets approved. Superette deli and food store would be a great addition to Highgate High Street if it’s as busy as Swain’s . Exciting!”
Another wrote: “Brilliant! I love the one down Swains Lane, also does great German beer on tap.”
While a third said: “Fantastic, an amazing little shop, would be a great addition!”
