After suffering multiple delays, the co-operative action-shooter will finally be released in 2024 for next-gen consoles. It will also mark the final performance by the legendary voice actor Kevin Conroy as Batman, hoping to end his wonderful tenure as the DC character on a high.

Alongside that, there’s so much secrecy surrounding Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s plot meaning there’s a lot to be spoiled. While some of the story details have leaked online, we won’t be addressing those leaks and instead will focus on all the official details confirmed by developer Rocksteady so you can get excited about the game while not having it ruined.

With that in mind, here’s everything we know about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League:

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release date

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League

WB Games

Rocksteady has confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be released on 2nd February 2024.

Since being announced back in 2020, Suicide Squad has experienced several lengthy delays. Originally, the game was aiming for a 2022 release before then being pushed to May 2023. It was then pushed one final time (we hope) to 2nd February 2024. That said, players wanting to play the game via the Epic Games Store will need to wait until 5th March 2024.

Additionally, anyone who pre-orders the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Deluxe Edition can access the game three days ahead of its official launch via early access. This means the earliest possible date to play is from 30th January 2024.

What is the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League plot?

WB Games

The Suicide Squad movies have mentioned the idea of Task Force X taking on Superman on a number of occasions, and this game will finally let fans see these bomb-implanted antiheroes going toe-to-toe with the iconic heroes from the Justice League. Little is known about the story for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League at the moment, but we have got a few details from the trailer.

Brainiac will play a large part, as he can be seen launching an attack on Metropolis – which is twice the size of Arkham Knight’s Gotham City – while an “alpha target” is positioned in the crosshairs of our squad of antiheroes.

That alpha target looks set to be Superman, under the control of Brainiac, so could we be seeing all the big hitters from the Justice League as the enemy? It would certainly be intriguing, and it would make sense given the game’s title, of course. Amanda Waller will once again be calling the shots as you play the game.

It’s also worth noting that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League takes place in Rocksteady’s Arkham-verse, meaning it shares continuity with previous games in that universe such as Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Arkham Knight. However, Warner Bros’ Gotham Knights game is set in a different continuity, so don’t expect that game to connect with this one.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League gameplay

WB Games

The gameplay in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is different from what we know and love from the Arkham games. This is a much faster-paced game that sells itself as an action-adventure shooter with ultra-violent tendencies. This isn’t the slow-moving and articulate gameplay of Batman, it’s the colourful, exuberant gameplay that characters such as Harley Quinn and Captain Boomerang demand. It’s fast, frantic with dozens of enemies onscreen at one time.

Metropolis will be a dynamic open-world setting, so we can explore it all as we see fit. The four main playable characters will be Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark. You will be able to switch between the characters when playing solo (any character you aren’t playing as will be controlled by AI), or you can round up three friends to tackle the game in co-op.

Harley Quinn uses Batman’s Grapnel Gun to swing around Metropolis. Deadshot uses Gizmo’s jetpack to fly around. Captain Boomerang, meanwhile, can make use of a prototype Speed Force Gauntlet that he stole from Doctor Sivana to get around in a split. Finally, King Shark can leap great distances and use his awesome strength to rush through enemies.

It has been confirmed that a Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will feature a battle pass. It will supposedly offer cosmetic items only and not offer up a gameplay advantage, according to developer Rocksteady. What items or who those characters will be will likely be revealed shortly after the game’s launch.

The live-service looter shooter will be supported with new playable characters, weapons and missions post-launch, too. Whether that will hit with fans or miss completely is yet to be seen.
