Cast Sonic the Hedgehog 3 the film is the biggest to date in Sega’s big screen universe.
Based on the successful video game series, Sonic 3 brings the Blue Blur image back to the big screen along with lovable characters from around the world Sonic the Hedgehog my canon.
Although Sonic 2 introduced audiences to two intergalactic super-powered beings in Idris Elba’s Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessy’s Tails, who are shaping up to be a major addition. Sonic 3 appears to be Keanu Reeves as Shadow the Hedgehog – a genetically modified clone of Sonic and the film’s main villain.

Ben Schwartz – Sonic
Debit management Sonic 3 Comedian Ben Schwartz returns as the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog. Schwartz brings the Blue Blur to life for the third time on the big screen, this time taking on the villainous Shadow the Hedgehog in an effort to stop the angry adversary from exacting his revenge.
Sonic is an intergalactic super-powered hedgehog who accidentally travels to Earth in the first movie, saving the planet from the twice-ass Dr. Robotnik and finding a family to call his own in James Masden’s Tom Wachowski.
Schwartz is best known for his work as a popular stand-up comedian and improv artist, and for his roles in hits such as Parks and Recreation, Afterpartyand Bojack Horseman.
Idris Elba – knuckles
Knuckles (played by Idris Elba) is another colorful creature from across the cosmos, known for his warrior’s heart and spiked knuckles. First time with Sonic and others. in Sonic 2Learning that fighting isn’t always the answer, Knuckles joined Sonic and Tom on Earth as part of the Wachowski family.
The last fans saw of the character, however, was that he led his own Paramount+ spin-off series (Knuckles), in which the character joined Adam Pally’s bumbling cop Wade Whipple on a cross-country trip of self-discovery and (oddly enough) bowling.
Elba’s previous Credits include DCs Suicide SquadMarvel Studios Thor franchise and HBO’s hit TV drama Yarn.
Colleen O’Shaughnessey – Tails
After being bullied in the first one Sonic movie, Blue Blur’s iconic video game sidekick Tails made his proper debut in Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
Voiced by Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Tails is a charismatic yellow fox known for his spinning twin tails, engineering prowess and attitude. In the trio of Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, this sweet, navy-footed youngster likes to bring heart to any situation the characters may find themselves in.
Although another CG Sonic characters are voiced by new original actors, O’Shaughnessy being the only one Sonic video game actor to play his character in movies. O’Shaughnessy, who fans may also know from his work Danny Phantom and Naruto franchise, has voiced Tails in various projects since 2014.
Keanu Reeves – Shadow
Join the film franchising program as Sonic 3Its primary opponent is the hedgehog shadow played by Keanu Reeves. The shadow was first hinted at in the post-credits scene Sonic 2 and it gets a proper introduction in the upcoming trilogy.
He is the opposite of Sonic, and is usually on the more villainous side than the heroic. Shadow is a human-created genetic experiment, also known as the Ultimate Lifeform, who goes on a quest for revenge after the program that created him kills a young girl he bonds with.
Reeves can also be seen in big screen hits such as John Wick movies, Matrixand Speed.
Jim Carrey – Dr. Robotnik & Gerald Robotnik
After announcing his retirement from acting the year he appeared Sonic 2Jim Carrey is back Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as two characters. Carrey brings to life both Dr. Robotnik (as seen in the last two films) and his father, Gerald Robotnik.
Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik has been a big part Sonic movies since the beginning, as he was a mad scientist who wanted to harness Sonic’s power. However, his Gerald Robotnik is new in the third film, as he is the elderly scientist who (at least in the games) is responsible for creating the Shadow.
Carrey has established himself as the king of comedy after working in Hollywood for over 30 years. His most famous roles have come in big screen blockbusters such as Ace Ventura, Dumb & Dumband Bruce Almighty.
James Marsden – Tom Wachowski
Starring James Marsden Sonic the film’s primary human hero, Tom Wachowski again Sonic 3. Tom is the sheriff of a small town when he first meets Sonic. After several adventures in the Blue Blur, adopt Sonic and his friends, helping them become the heroes they are meant to be.
Marsden’s past includes e.g Hairspray, Westworldand Fox’s The X-Men franchise.
Tika Sumpster – Maddie Wachowski
Tike Sumpster brings to life Maddie Wachowski, the matriarch of the Wachowski clan. She is married to James Marsden’s Tom Wachowski and has become a surrogate mother to Sonic, Tails and Knuckles after the trio have joined their family since their arrival on Earth.
Sumpster can also be seen inside Southside with you, Ride alongand An old man and a gun.
Tom Butler – Commander Walters
Another important human character here Sonic films is Tom Butler’s Commander Walters. Walters began the series as the commander of the United States Armed Forces, but was eventually promoted to lead the United Nations Guardian Unit, a task force responsible for protecting the country from extraterrestrial threats.
Butler’s other roles include Loudermilk, Chesapeake Shoresand Literally.
Lee Majdoub – Agent Stone
Every champion is only as good as his henchman/woman, so it’s no wonder Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik has had trouble getting his evil schemes off the ground with Lee Majdoub’s Agent Stone following close behind. Stone has been a loyal follower of Robotnik and must be disappointed that his leader was disgraced the way he was. Sonic 2.
Majdoub can also be seen/heard in two others Sonic movies, CWs 100and Assassin’s Creed Mirage video game.
Adam Pally – Wade Whipple
Wade Whipple (played by Adam Pally) is one of the many police officers working under Sheriff Tom Wachowski in Green Hills, Montana. He’s a lovable oaf who last played a human lead Knuckles where he achieved his dream of becoming a bowling champion and found himself in the process.
Pally’s filmography includes appearances Iron Man 3, Dirty Grandpaand Band Aid.
Shemar Moore – Randall Handel
Shemar Moore repeats his Sonic and Sonic 2 The role of Randall Handel in the third film. Randall is a former Guardian Units of Nations agent who chose the love of his life (Maddie Wachowski’s older sister Rachel) over duty in his elaborate plot to arrange a wedding to capture Sonic and his friend.
Moore is best known for his work as Derek Morgan in the hit movie Criminal minds in the series with roles The young and the restless and SWAT
Krysten Ritter – Director Rockwell
One of the new human characters arrives Sonic 3 is the mysterious director Rockwell (played by Krysten Ritter). Rockwell is the leader of the Guardian Units of Nations (aka GUN), the iconic Sonic organization known for dispatching Shadow despite his rage at killing a young girl he called his friend.
Ritter joins Sonic 3 stemming from appearances in such hits as Jessica Jones, Breaking Badand Don’t trust B—– apartment 23.
Alyla Browne – Maria
Alyla Browne joins the band Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in the role of Maria, who is probably one of the most important characters in the upcoming trilogy. Maria, a young girl who is unfortunately afflicted with a fatal illness, is the granddaughter of Gerald Robotnik.
She develops a deep relationship with her grandfather’s creation, Shadow, while he is in captivity, and her creation will hopefully be the key to saving the young girl. However, he eventually dies when GUN takes over Shadow, acting as the catalyst for the hedgehog’s never-ending quest for revenge.
Browne’s last appearance in Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga As a young Furious, and has credits as well The Lost Flowers by Alice Hart and Stitch.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 hits theaters December 20.
