The stars of hit musical SIX take to the stage for a free event at the National Portrait Gallery tomorrow (Friday 26 July). The performance will kick off a unique after hours party to celebrate the art venue’s latest exhibition, Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens.

Guests can travel through the fascinating history of the era at the Tudor-themed extravaganza with costume, dance, music, talks and workshops. The full gallery takeover starts at 5.30pm on Friday (July 26), with the musical’s 10-minute run starting at 6pm.

Drag artist DJ Timberlina will then play an amazing playlist of songs from SIX, as well as anthems from female artists who inspired the show, such as Beyoncé and Ariana Grande. During the 2.5 hour event, visitors will have the opportunity to handle costumes straight from the West End, as well as take part in life drawing, crown construction and cypher making.

There will also be three 30 minute dance workshops led by SIX’s very own choreographer, and a series of lectures on Henry VIII’s many wives. Set to be a fun and informative evening, people are encouraged to wear their best historical costume and glitter covered attire.

All events are free and drop-in so no pre-booking is required. However, capacity is limited for activities so guests are advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.

For anyone interested in seeing the Six Lives exhibition before it closes in September, tickets can be booked in advance or purchased at the ticket counter. They start at £21 and can be bought here.

SIX the Musical celebrates its sixth year in the West End. The show is a fun and upbeat historical celebration that explores the love, loss and the infamous ex that Tudor wives all have in common. Tickets can be purchased via LoveTheatre, TodayTix and London Theater Direct.
