The Six Nations countdown is on as we speed through January with the start of the tournament now just three weeks away.

International sides get to show whether there is any hungover from last year’s World Cup as European nations compete for major honours in the iconic yearly tournament.

There is plenty instore for supporters as Mail Sport builds up to the Six Nations with England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales all aiming to build on their performances at the recent World Cup.

England are set to see another of their stars move to a French side ahead of the Six Nations, while the new Lions coach Andy Farrell will be given the chance to look at potential picks for his squad.

Sinckler on the verge of France move 

Kyle Sinckler is on the verge of becoming the next England player to move to France after the prop flew to Toulon this week for a medical. Mail Sport understands the 30-year-old is in the final stages of agreeing a deal with the Top 14 club. 

Henry Arundell, Joe Marchant and Dave RIbbans all moved abroad after the World Cup, while Owen Farrell, Lewis Ludlam and Courtney Lawes are also in discussions with French clubs.

New Six Nations documentary set to premiere 

The red carpet is set to be rolled out in London’s West End on Monday for the premiere of the new Six Nations documentary. Overseen by BAFTA-winning producer James Gay-Rees, the Full Contact feature will be given its first showing at the Frameless venue in Marble Arch. 

The Netflix show has been produced by the same company that worked on features about Amy Winehouse, Ayrton Senna, Diego Maradona and Oasis. Cameras followed teams in last year’s competition, and the likes of Marcus Smith, Seb Negri, Finn Russell, Andrew Porter and Louis Rees-Zammit are expected to figure as stars of the show.

World Cup-winning Leinster coach Jacques Nienaber was one of the contenders mentioned during Thursday’s press conference. 

Farrell said: ‘That’s yet another name. They’re gonna keep coming [from the media] for the next 16 months — that’s why you have to be patient.’ 

Wales back-rower exploring move to Northampton 

Wales back row Aaron Wainwright is exploring a cross-border move to Northampton. The 26-year-old, who has played all his rugby at Newport, would remain eligible to play for Wales because he has passed the 25-cap threshold. He would reinforce the club’s forward stocks if Lawes and Ludlam take up options overseas.
