Shakespeare Distillery has launched Jester Rum Cream liqueur, the first in an exciting new range from the award-winning Warwickshire independent spirit producer.
This first Chocolate Cream Liqueur is a collaboration 1683 Chocolate Place, a local award-winning chocolatier with whom Shakespeare Distillery has a long-standing relationship, producing excellent artisan Gin and Rum chocolates.
Chocolate Cream Liqueur is a decadent blend of the Distillery’s Cask Aged Jester rum, luxury Belgian chocolate and fresh local cream from Cotteswold Dairy. The rich flavors of cocoa and rum balance perfectly with the subtle hints of vanilla and sandwich.
This new spirit is a whole new path for the progressive craft distillery and has required significant investment in new machinery and equipment. In contrast to the current clear bottles, the team has also acquired new and unique ceramic bottles that bring to mind the traditional look of cream liqueur.
Shakespeare Distillery is no stranger to experimenting and developing new spirits from scratch, having released British Jester Rum in 2021. The IWSC Silver awarded Jester White Rum has since been aged for three years in ex-industrial casks, and the team released the first of their long-awaited “Jester” Barrel aged rums in December 2023. Their new chocolate cream liqueur is made from Wild Turkey Bourbon barrel aged Jester Rum.
Simon Picken, director of Shakespeare Distillery, said: “We’re thrilled to be launching our new cream liqueur, the first of many to come. Rum and chocolate are an ideal combination, so for us Chocolate Cream was the obvious first choice in this new range. It’s been fantastic working with Joe (Vaughan) at 1683 Chocolate Place. He is an award-winning craftsman who truly understands our requirements and flavor profile. Together, we have created a truly special, high-quality chocolate liqueur that is sure to be incredibly popular with our customers!”
Founded in 2015 by Simon Picken and Peter Monks, Shakespeare Distillery is the only working distillery in Stratford-upon-Avon, producing a range of carbon neutral spirits including Stratford Dry Gin, Jester Rum and distillery specialities. The Distillery also offers daily tours and other experiences such as gin and rum schools, cocktail masters and River Avon Gin Tasting cruises. In 2022, the company expanded its operations in the city center and opened a brand new experience space with tasting rooms.
