Russell Platt has been appointed as the new General Manager of The Cadogan, the Belmond Hotel in Chelsea, London.

He succeeds Xavier Lablaude, who left the 54-room hotel after a four-year tenure.

Platt has held key positions in some of London’s most prestigious five-star hotels, most recently as hotel manager at the Savoy. Prior to that he was Director of Events and Groups at Claridge’s and Director of Food and Beverage at The Dorchester.

In his position at The Cadogan, Platt oversees the improvement of the guest experience and manages the operations of The LaLee, a European-inspired café-restaurant, and The Cadogan Lounge, which offers afternoon tea prepared by renowned pastry chef Benoit Blin.

Platt was born and raised in Durban, South Africa, before her family moved to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada as a teenager.

He has been a member of the London Food and Beverage Managers’ Association since 2015 and a member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs since 2018.
