Marvel Competitors is just getting started, as the hit shooter confirmed the Season 1 release date and gameplay details.

From the Chinese developer NetEase Games Competitors set the “hero” in the hero shooter and take on the likes Appreciation and Overwatch offering a Marvel-themed take on the competitive multiplayer genre.

Like other running games before, Marvel’s Rivals will continuously develop its online offering over time and with new content seasons every few months. These seasons bring gameplay changes, never-before-seen skins, and even a new hero or two to add to the game’s roster of playable Marvel characters.

When is Marvel Rivals Season 1 coming out?

Since its release, fans have been calling Marvel’s Rivals Known as Season 0 of the game, everything changes in a few days when Season 1 begins.

Exact release information Marvel’s Rivals Season 1 has not been announced, but is expected to begin sometime on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Fans have noticed that the Battle Pass for Season 0 is set to expire at 6:00 UTC (01:00 ET) on January 10, likely indicating that Season 1 will be released soon after.

Typically, these battle pass timers have been good indicators of when new content might be coming to the current game, such as Competitors. However, since this is the game’s first official season release, it can’t be said that it’s a game for a super-powered shooter.

According to the developer journal published in December 2024 Marvel’s Rivals seasons are said to last around three months, with Season 0 serving as a short prelude to Season 1, which airs on January 10th.

If this three-month plan is still something the game is following, fans can likely expect to play Season 1 well into 2025, with an end date likely. coming sometime in early April.

The number one question on many minds Marvel’s Rivals‘ Season 1 is the new character (if any) joins the game’s playable heroes.

By now in CompetitorsEarly in life, fans have started to figure out certain strategies and which characters can be better than others (read Marvel’s Rivals character classification here), but that foundation is sure to be shaken up as new heroes join the fun.

First of all, the entire Fantastic Four will do Competitors debut in season 1! Marvel Rivals’ confirmed that the Fantastic Four (Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grim) will be featured in Season 1 this morning, with a trailer for Season 4 debuting on January 6th at 8:00 AM PST / 4:00 PM UTC.

Season 1 also debuts a new map, which can be seen in the background of the promotional image above. This map is believed to be a map of vampire-infested New York City, which may indicate that the vampire hunter Blade will also debut in Season 1. Blade is one of the 12 leaked Marvel Rivals characters.

Pesky AI Ultron is also guaranteed to arrive as part of the Season 1 festivities, complete with a full set of moves and various character artwork online (via X (formerly Twitter)).

In fact, according to one known Marvel’s Rivals Ultron was originally slated for the release date, but was pulled at the last second, making his introduction in Season 1 even more likely.

Well, it turns out that the game’s new season of content overlaps somewhat with the ongoing crossover event with Marvel’s mobile games Marvel Snap, Marvel Puzzle Questand Marvel Future Fight.

Marvel’s Rivals the crossover event will begin on January 3, 2025, and will likely include in-game challenges in each of the partnering games that will reward the player in Marvel’s new free-to-play shooter.

The exact end date for the game’s next event has not been specified, but it can be assumed that it will overlap somewhat with Season 1 alongside a larger content drop.

Will Marvel Rivals Season 1 release new maps?

No new maps have been confirmed Marvel’s Rivals Season 1, but several have been leaked in recent weeks, meaning a new in-game battleground could be on the way.

The December 2024 leak included three new maps that appear to be coming to the game, including the X-Men-themed islands of Krakoa and Arakko, as well as the Big Apple itself, New York City.

While all three likely won’t be released at the same time as the new season, at least one will likely enter the game’s rotation at some point during the season.

Leakers have also found information about a possible new game mode Marvel’s Rivalssomething that could very well debut alongside Season 1 (via X’s MRivalsUpdates).

This new game mode is ostensibly a “Capture the Flag” game where teams must secure an object (usually a flag) in enemy territory before attempting to return to their own victory objective.

What new skins will be added to Marvel Rivals Season 1?

Marvel’s Rivals isn’t shy about offering fans opportunities to spice up their in-game characters with plenty of exciting skins, and Season 1 doesn’t look like it’s bucking that trend.

By now in Competitors‘ young, the game has released plenty of exciting new skins (like a top-notch set of MCU-themed skins) that allow players to add a bit of personality to the game’s cast of 33 super-powered characters.

Season 1 is sure to bring even more of these purchasable cosmetics, as these a la carte skins (along with the in-game battle pass) are the only way the free-to-play game can make money.

Several skins have been leaked in anticipation of Season 1, but it is unknown if these will all be released during the first season of the game or if they will be saved for later use.

Some of these leaked skins have included a silver-haired purple Magik, a devil-themed Scarlet Witch, and a rusted metallic Groot skin. These skins – among others – will likely be part of the upcoming Season 1 Battle Pass, but will also be available as a one-time purchase in Marvel’s Rivals‘ in-game store.
