Pizza Pilgrims has joined the exclusive group of UK catering companies with B Corp status.
To obtain B Corp certification, a company undergoes an evaluation by the non-profit B Labs, which checks its ethical standards. This certification requires a legal commitment to deliver benefits to shareholders, employees, customers and the planet.
There are currently over 1,500 B Corp companies in the UK, all of which are required to undergo recertification every three years.
Founder Thom Elliot said, “Ever since I first read about B Corp, I’ve felt it was a movement I wanted Pizza Pilgrims to be a part of. We started the company as a source of happiness—for ourselves, but also for our employees, customers, and the communities we serve.
“B Corp being a very credible third party guide and inspiration to ensure that Pizza Pilgrims is a force for the future is an exciting step and I am proud of what I have achieved with the team.”
Founded by Thom and his brother James, Pizza Pilgrims dedicated two years to exploring all aspects of their business in pursuit of B Corp status. One significant change implemented was the legal commitment to be accountable to all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
The company expressed its desire to serve as a source of inspiration and education for other hospitality companies eager to join the B Corp movement.
Pizza Pilgrims launched its first permanent pizzeria in 2013 and has since expanded to over 20 locations across the UK.
