The Golden Bachelor rival Pascal Ibgui talks about how producers interfered with his relationship with Joanwhich is why he was so angry and told them to turn off the cameras. Pascal and Joan began their Fantasy Suite date in Tahiti with a bonding ceremony, which led to him realizing he wasn’t in love with Joan. Pascal’s walls were up due to a difficult breakdown the previous year, so he self-eliminated The Golden Bachelor season 1 when Joan felt like a failure and hopeless when he told her he wasn’t in love with her.
Pascal revealed that the producers tried to disrupt his separation by telling him what to say to Joan.
In an interview with Glamour, Pascal was asked if he wished he had said something different to Joan when she said goodbye. He replied, “I said it in a very nice and polite way. I told her, ‘Look, Joan, I’m not where I’m supposed to be for you. It’s hard for me to continue that journey and go further with you.”
However then Pascal revealed that the producers tried to disrupt his separation by telling him what to say to Joan. He shared, “The producer (explained that I should be more clear that I wasn’t in love with him), but I hesitated to use that word.”
Pascal then explained that he didn’t mean to hurt Joan. He said, “When I saw the show, I saw that he was hurt because he said (to the cameras), ‘Maybe I’m not worthy of love.’ mislead him or misrepresent myself told him from the start that I am being guarded and it will take a long time to bring down my walls.”
Pascal explained that too this was the reason he wanted the cameras turned off when he and Joan broke up. He said, “That’s why I told the camera to get away from me. I was very angry. I know the words ‘not in love’ are very hurtful. I prefer to try to be very diplomatic. Unfortunately, he got hurt because it was very difficult for me too.
I said it very nicely and politely. I told her, “Look, Joan, I’m not where I need to be for you. It’s hard for me to continue that journey and go further with you.” The producer (explained that I should be more clear that I wasn’t in love with him), but I hesitated to use that word.
When I saw the show, I saw that he was hurt by it because he said (to the cameras), “Maybe I’m not worthy of love.” That was not my intention. My point was to tell him that I’m not where he needs me to be, and I don’t think I could get there. I’m sorry if I misled him or misrepresented myself, but I told him from the start that I was guarded and it would take time to break down my walls.
That’s why I told the camera to get away from me. I was very angry. I know the words “not in love” are very offensive. I prefer to try to be very diplomatic. Unfortunately, he was injured. I got hurt because it was also mentally very difficult for me.
What Pascal’s accusation means for the Golden Bachelorette
Producer harassment has been an issue with the Bachelor Franchise for years
It is worrying but not surprising that The Golden Bachelor the producers touched on what Pascal said to Joan during their breakup. The producers shouldn’t be telling anyone on the show what to say. However, the production has manipulated Bachelor franchise shows for yearsfrom adding producer crop contestants to their cast to creating situations that cause drama among the contestants.

During the dinner before the Fantasy Suite, Pascal actually told Joan that he wasn’t in love with her, which shows that he followed the producer’s advice. He told her that he cared about her as a friend, but he wasn’t in love. From his new comments, it seems he regretted it immediately. Pascal’s revelation that he said something he really didn’t want to say now calls into question whether the other men or even Joan did the same.
We take a stand on the Golden Bachelorette producer glitches
The Bachelor Franchise producers need to back off
It’s infuriating to hear that The Golden Bachelor the producers manipulated Pascal into saying something he didn’t want to say. It is interesting to think how Pascal, a 69-year-old father, grandfather and established businessman, can be forced to do something which he did not want to do. His anger was evident when he told the cameramen to go away, so he probably deeply regretted saying these words to Joan, even though he really didn’t want to.

Pascal’s admission of his breakup with Joan is just another example of why fans no longer trust Bachelor franchise. Although the entire show is not scripted, it seems that the producers are manipulating conversations and situations to create more drama. I hope Joan hears what Pascal said so she knows the truth. Both Pascal and Joan would earn more The Golden Bachelor producers.
