Meanwhile, Quarry Tea House also found many admirers with Paula Anne Milner and Victoria Jane both endorsing the spot.

Another endorsement for outdoor settings, Anne Hedley recommended Rendevouz on Whitley Bay Promenade, a choice offering a beachfront view to accompany a cake break.

Elsewhere in the North East, Peggotys in Wolsingham was suggested by Trish Willis, while Ann Brown gave another ringing endorsement to Whitgate Nursery saying: “Whitegates Nursery Ltd the best place for cakes food it’s so lovely.”

In the Ashington area, Ali Marshall made a case for Kelly’s Kakeaway: “They do the best cakes by far.”
