The Times have recently unveiled their annual list of the ‘coolest postcodes to move to‘. Having scoured the length and breadth of the country, they’ve uncovered the UK’s trendiest areas, and compiled them into a handy little list. Eleven UK postcodes nabbed a seat at the table, in total. But whilst it comes as no surprise to me that a London locale has made an appearance on the list (the capital is, after all, as cool as a cucumber); my eyebrows were slightly raised by the exact London postcode that The Times has named the coolest.

Now look, who am I to cast judgement on what’s cool or not? I used the phrase ‘cool as a cucumber’ mere moments ago. So, as you can probably tell; ‘cool’ is not a word that’s widely utilised in my day-to-day vocab. So, I’ll refrain from putting my two cents in. And what I’ll do instead is let you know which London postcode has, in fact, been named one of the coolest in the country. And you can decide for yourself whether or not you agree. Drum roll, please…

The coolest postcode to move to in London

Money is the south London suburb that’s had its name added to the list of the UK’s coolest postcodes. The SE20 postcode has bagged itself a sought-after spot, having been hailed as ‘the most desirable postcode south of the river’. Nestled between the likes of Crystal Palace and Beckenham; Penge certainly does have a whole lot to offer.

Known for its eclectic street art and plethora of local businesses; there’s no denying that SE20 is a pretty cracking place to live. For green-fingered Londoners, there’s Alexandra Nurseries. For avid bike-riders, there’s the Money Cycle Club. For culture vultures, there’s Money Rooftop Gallery. And for those of you who (like me) spend the majority of your time eating and drinking, there’s the likes of Chatsworth Bakehouse, Carnival Coffee Roasters, and Brockley Brewery.

Okay, I’ve changed my mind. Penge sounds very cool. And if you need me for the rest of the day; you’ll find me scouring Rightmove for flats to rent in Penge…
