If you’re au fait with the property scene in London, you’ll have heard the name Angel O’Donnell. As a property editor, I can tell you that it pops up more in my inbox than the phrase ‘let’s circle back’. It seems like the interior design firm is behind half of London’s show homes and penthouses these days – PCL as designed by Richard Angel and Ed O’Donnell.

That’s the founding duo, by the way. And, to be specific, they have designed homes for luxury developments including Lancer Square, One St John’s Wood, 101 on Cleveland, The OWO Residences, and now, One Crown Place, which entered the final phase of construction last month. One Crown Place is the Square Mile’s latest luxury address – a mixed-use development comprising 246 apartments set across two prismatic towers. And it’s just opened the doors to two Angel O’Donnell interior concepts on the 25th and 21st storeys.

The one- and three-bedroom apartments both take inspiration from the views and light enjoyed by One Crown Place (both are pretty good at these heights) – as well as continuing the design-led approach of the building. Located in the heart of The City, One Crown Place visually manifests its dual identity as a development sandwiched between Liverpool Street and Shoreditch. This is done through a fusion of 18th, 20th and 21st century architecture, and a mix of old-school craft techniques and modern engineering, as seen in the glazed terracotta facades and steel skeleton structures.

The apartments echo the shapes and contours of London’s skyline, and are decorated in neutral hues that pave the way for bold, colourful furniture and artwork. The spaces feel intrinsically youthful – something about the handcrafted furniture, including a coffee table of rusted supports and cloud-shaped glass, sculptural dining chairs with serpentine legs, and a desk that rotates 360 degrees so you can enjoy multiple views while you work. It is these details that elevate the space, making it feel super fresh.

Angel O’Donnell’s brief of ‘embody[ing] the area’s diverse culture, creativity and fashion’ is felt in the warmth and character of the apartments – to which carefully-curated, locally-sourced art is a key contributor, it has to be said. Yep, they’ve done it again.

The apartments form the centrepiece of One Crown Place, but its concurrent amenities are definitely worth a mention. These are the design work of Studio Ashby, another fixture on the London property scene, whose notable projects include Television Centre, the former home of the BBC. Amenities include a state-of-the-art gym, treatment rooms, a residents’ lounge, a screening room, a work hub, a roof terrace, and a private dining room.

There is also the adjoining Sun Street Hotel, which gives residents complimentary membership to its club – entitling them to perks such as access to a chef from Quercus, the estate’s courtyard restaurant, for in-apartment culinary experiences, and access to exclusive offers across both the hotel and restaurant. Residents of One Crown Place also have access to a 24-hour concierge and 109,675 square feet of workspace.

One Crown Place, and the Angel O’Donnell apartments, are within a five-minute radius of global institutions such as UBS, Pinsent Masons, ICAP, Allen & Overy, McCann and Amazon. They are also neighbours to the cultural and arts institutions of the playground that is Shoreditch. For those who want to straddle these worlds, as well as own an apartment curated by the hottest duo on the market, this is your chance.
