Oklahoma! is one of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s most beloved shows. It was first brought to life on stage on Broadway in 1943, and later this year it will receive a new concert adaptation to celebrate its 80th anniversary.
The epic musical has just been confirmed to reach London Theater Royal in Drury Lane now in August. And these won’t be your ordinary shows. In fact, they have some special guest stars.
The first is Phil Dunster, who is best known for playing Jamie Tartt on the Apple TV Plus sitcom Ted Lasso. The British actor will take on the role of Curly in the West End show.
Dunster will be joined by Zizi Strallen, a stage performer who will play Laurey throughout the production. Strallen most recently took on the role of Marie Antoinette in Cake: The Marie Antoinette PLAYlist at the Lyric Theatre.
Strallen was also nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical back in 2020 for her performance in Mary Poppins. She has played the role of the titular nanny since 2015.
Dunster and Strallen will play Curly and Laurey in two special shows in August. They will take the stage on Monday, August 19, 2024 and Tuesday, August 20, 2024.
