As the UK works toward Net Zero, learning green skills and renewable technologies is more crucial than ever.

To support this transition, South Gloucestershire and Stroud College is offering new courses in green skills, allowing learners aged 19+ to study flexibly and acquire key skills.

These courses are on offer to both people looking to enter careers within green skills and qualified tradespeople looking to upskill in renewable energy.

For those looking to learn more about the green sector, the ‘Introduction to Green Skills Careers’ course will be delivered over one week, taking place in November and again in January.

SGS is also running Skills Bootcamps designed to develop new skills that employers are looking for. They’re a great opportunity to train in this growth industry.

The Skills Bootcamps include two Level 3 qualifications and will allow learners to be qualified in the installation of air source heat pumps, or small-scale solar PV systems.

Skills Bootcamps are fully funded for the self-employed and unemployed. For employees of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), the cost is £350, paid by the employer, while for employees of large organisations, the cost is £1,050, also employer-funded.

The courses are ideal if you’re considering a career change, looking to connect with local employers, or exploring opportunities in the green sector.

Retrofit, air source heat pumps, solar thermal, and battery storage are just a few of the technologies driving the UK’s path to Net Zero. But how do they work, and how can they help reduce carbon emissions?

This course, delivered in partnership with the Forest of Dean District Council, offers a comprehensive introduction to renewable technologies, as well as various methods of retrofitting for carbon reduction.

Held face-to-face at the Belle Vue Centre, the course features practical activities, group learning, and plenty of opportunities for questions and interaction with our experienced staff.
