Shoppers are loving a ‘mystery’ beauty box which they say is ‘well worth the money‘ – and they’ve even said it makes the perfect gift too. Glossybox has a selection of four mystery beauty boxes for £9.99.
Basically, you get a choice of five products, from makeup to beauty tools to things for your hair and skin care. This is what sets it apart from, say, Boots’ £25 Valentine’s Day boxes, Love Language and In Love With: it’s a mystery what you’ll get. They also have four different variants: Box 1, Box 2, Box 4 and Box 5. All are discounted from £15 down to £9.99.
But Glossybox is currently running a special offer to get 20 per cent off your first box order, bringing it down to £1.99, bringing it down to just £8. They also have the option to bulk buy three mystery boxes (£27.99, down from £45, which is £9.33 per box – making it the cheapest option if you’ve bought one before).
Finally, there is the Glossybox Winter Grooming Kit, which is for men. It costs £30 unlike the others, so you might want to consider Sephora’s Favorites Men’s Essentials box instead. It costs £29.90 and has a guaranteed £74.98 worth of products inside.
Since what you get inside is a, well, mystery, I’ll let the reviewers help you decide. Box 1 has 4.2 out of 54 reviews, with one person saying: “Purchased a few of these before Christmas and used the contents to put in gift bags with other presents. The products are fantastic and well worth the money. There is also the chance to keep some things for yourself.” However, one less satisfied person wrote: “No mystery about this box unfortunately. The products were OK.”
Box 2 has a rating of 4.25 from 68 reviews. One person said: “I received the box quite quickly, the products were good, I especially like the night cream I received. I have been looking for a good face cream for day and night.” But one more disappointed person said: “I’ve bought the mystery boxes before and read some of the reviews. But was really disappointed with the product options I got. Had a shower that smelled like fizz, eyelashes with no glue, almost opened moisturizer (lid didn’t fit properly) , fragrance bag and mascara. The only thing I liked was the box. It’s nice with a mirror in the lid. It says absolutely imperfect on it.”

Box 5 has 4.55 from 29 reviews. One kind shopper commented: “Loved the variety of products in mine. Mystery box it’s such a great way to try new products for a fraction of the price I love the surprise you get at Christmas or birthday every time.” A less satisfied person wrote (2022 for reference – the others have been late 2023): “I ordered mystery box 1,3 and 5. 2 of them were the same box, what’s in the box is very valuable and fun to open, but if they’re marketed as different mystery boxes, they should all be different.”
