Zakynthos is in the throws of rebranding – known for many years for its party scene. The island is invoking a renaissance, with beautiful resorts, beaches and caves that are vying to become the main attractions of this beautiful Greek island. The allure of white sand beaches and turquoise waters is what convinced me that this Ionian Island was a must for a long weekend at the beginning of October, wanting to get one last dose of sun before wading into the depths of a UK winter.

I was looking for a villa that was primed and prepped for tranquility. I was in serious need of relaxation – I wanted somewhere that could house 4+ people but still offered luxury hotel amenities. I needed everything to be within reach, so that I could enjoy the benefits of a resort where the pool, restaurants and spa are a mere five-minute walk away at most. I searched, and Lesante Cape answered.

Lesante Cape, Zakynthos

Lesante Cape Resort & Villas is not your typical resort. It has tastefully managed to recreate the buzz and warmth of a village – something many others have tried and failed to do successfully. The resort is located in Akrotiri, where the roads are lined with olive groves as far as the eye can see. Our bags are quickly whisked away, and we’re guided into the lobby.

Palatial is the first word that springs to mind. The towering ceilings allow light to seep into the space, while earthy ceramics add a certain je ne sais quoi. Before we know it, we’re lazing on the balcony with a cool glass of freshly squeezed juice and a beautiful view to complete the check-in process.
