Murton Pizza on Cookson Terrace, Seaham, was awarded a very low rating by the Food Standards Agency in an inspection on October 18.

Following the inspection the takeaway will have been informed that a number of improvements need to be made and urgently.

Thankfully the restaurant have followed the guidance and are up to three stars.

A spokesperson for Murton Pizza said: “We are currently sitting at 3 stars after a revisit. We will be requesting another revisit after we have completed the work we are carrying out in the shop.

“At time of first visit we where undergoing renovations to parts of the shop. For example, we were installing walk in freezers changing wall and floor coverings as a result of this we only had paper work for the fridges we had newly installed so that knocked our rating down dramatically.

“We have also just completed the newest food allergen training and have made sure all staff are up to date with this and all other training.

“Our 1 star was giving purely down to the fact we had not kept documents for freezers we didn’t have and the shop was under renovation when she arrived this was not in areas where food was been made.

“During all visits we have never had any issues with standards of food or how we prepare our food.”
