Drama has been brewing between popular streamers and YouTube personalities MoistCr1TiKaL (pronounced Moist Critical) and Sneako.
Charles “MoistCr1TiKaL” White Jr. and Nicolas “Sneako” Kenn De Balinthazy are two well-known online creators with 17 million YouTube subscribers (although this figure only considers Sneako’s numbers until October 2023, when he was banned from the platform).
Due to their popularity, they are often asked to comment on the topic du jour, take on the latest headlines, drama and controversy in the online content creator space.
Moist Critical / Sneako drama explained
Fans saw the online personalities lash out as Twitch streamers and YouTubers MoistCr1TiKaL (aka Moist Critical) and Sneako argued over the online handling of the recent Ava Kris Tyson drama.
Tyson’s name made headlines in early July when the creator associated with MrBeast was accused of grooming and promoting an inappropriate relationship with a minor (read more about the Ava Kris Tyson controversy).
This led to the transgender content creator resigning from his position as a member of the MrBeast team and inspired comments from many well-known online content creators.
However, where Charles “MoistCr1TiKaL” White Jr. and Nicolas “Sneako” Kenn De Balinthazy come into play is in their relative lack of silence on the subject (at least from the other’s perspective).
The digital feud between the two YouTube and Twitch personalities began when Sneako accused Moist (aka Charlie or penguinz0 online) of not addressing the Ava Kris Tyson controversy.
Kenn De Balinthazy claimed in a video on his stream (via @divinecoup on X/formerly Twitter) that White was withholding his opinion on the controversy because he “want (a) MrBeast (collaboration):”
“MoistCr1TiKaL is not going to talk about Kris’s situation because he wants a MrBeast collab”
This prompted MoistCr1TiKaL to respond to the claims on social media, writing that he “wish people would actually bother to check if I’ve talked about something.” referring to a video he had made of the situation several days earlier:
“I wish people would actually bother to check if I’ve talked about anything. I talked about it last night on stream when it was all unfolding and I posted a short edit of the conversation so even brain rotting idiots can watch the whole thing and see how awful I’ll also make a full video of it saying also that sneako is not defending all of this as he has been denying for some time now.”
When a supposed Sneako fan account (named Sneako Updates on X) claimed that White hadn’t done enough because the video he was using to base his claim was uploaded to his much smaller second YouTube channel, the online creator said he was doing so because the situation was “still opening:”
“This account is so fucking weird to imagine riding a cock so hard that you make your entire online identity about a streamer you obsess over and do their PR for free; it was literally still open when I went live and talked to Dr. Disrespect about it. stream and made a video the next day after his first response.
The beef between the two streamers then culminated in a conversation on Twitch that covered a wide range of topics, but mostly focused on the age of consent (which Sneako has outright disparaged) and transgender rights.
During this verbal sparring match, Moist was criticized for his approach to the debate, as some felt he was middle of the road and did not satisfy either claim.
After this conversation, a message was published The official podcast‘s Patreon (which White has hosted since 2016) and said he would be leaving the show “reduce your time on the Internet” (via Reddit).
Many interpreted this as a reaction to the drama between MoistCr1Tikal and Sneako, and some wondered if the popular streamer had completely left the internet.
However, White quelled fans’ fears by uploading a follow-up video in which he assured his followers that he was not leaving YouTube and was simply taking a step back from the podcast.
He joked that the rumors of his retirement were “news for him” and said the decision to leave the podcast was something he had been mulling over for months when he thought he was coming “chronically online.”
Regarding the conversation itself, White elaborated that when the two creators decided to chat on stream, he “I thought (it) was a conversation between” two Streamers and not a “the kind of talk show he gave to his audience:”
“I thought this was a conversation between him and me. Not the kind of conversation he was presenting to his audience. There’s nothing in our DMs to indicate where it was going. When I joined the call, he asked if I was going to record, to which I said, ” I can if he wants, but I also just wanted to talk.”
He claimed he didn’t know the debate was a debate or was going on until about an hour and 40 minutes later, and therefore may have appeared unprepared or surprised by the confrontation.
She made her stance on the topics covered in the debate clear by saying that she is a passionate believer in the age of consent and has always supported the LGBTQIA+ community.
Sneako and MoistCr1TiKaL are both followable on X.
