5 things you need to know about Outlast’s Bri Walston

Netflix

Brianna Walston holds several university degrees

In addition to his passion for the outdoors and the wilderness, Walston has a passion for education, as evidenced by his college degrees over the years.

As listed on his LinkedIn page, he holds five degrees from five different programs, most of which have been awarded top honors.

The two most recent are a Master of Business Administration and Management (Purdue Global) and a Master of Laws, Conflict Resolution and Corporate and Healthcare Compliance (Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law, Arizona State University). He earned both of these in 2021.

He previously earned bachelor’s degrees in social and criminal justice from Ashford University and the University of Arizona Global Campus. He also has an AA degree in Criminal Justice from the Community College of the Air Force.

Brianna is an Air Force veteran

As discussed on The Roaming Vet, Bri Walston served her country in the United States Air Force.

While completing his bachelor’s degree, Walston also served as an Air Force officer and pilot. He hoped to obtain a private pilot’s license and worked as an Executive Assistant to senior service and officer leaders.

Unfortunately, after six years in the Air Force, he was medically discharged due to injuries sustained in training and on duty. These injuries led to two hip surgeries and he was subsequently retired.

He discussed his time in the Air Force with Shout Out Colorado and noted how his discharge left him “to feel a lack of passion and purpose:”

“Before I started content production and photography, I often asked myself how I was different from other people with similar interests. I felt like I wasn’t unique in a way that would really set me apart. But I am different. I was active duty in the Air Force for six years, my goal to become a pilot, to work with my private pilot’s license, in a high position, with several high awards and achievements for passion and purpose.”

He spent about a year figuring out his place outside the military and explains how deeply tied to the military and how he “struggled with PTSD, anxiety and depression:”

“It took me about a year to figure out who I am outside of the military because it was all I knew growing up and I thought I’d stay there until I retired. It wasn’t easy because I struggled with PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and I quit for 3 years of a lasting relationship, because our interests no longer aligned, I spent a lot of time in fear.”

Bri is the CEO of The Roaming Vet

Over the past few years, Walston has built her profile as a businesswoman. He owns and operates two separate businesses.

As discussed with Shout Out Colorado, one of those companies is BriWalston, which he uses to create and photograph outdoor content. He hopes to inspire people “Go Out (and) See the World” sometimes does it out of fear:

“Well, I have two companies. One is BriWalston, which is for Travel and Outdoor Adventure content creation, photography, and user-generated content (UGC). This platform inspires others to get out there, see the world, and do it with fear, because sometimes I have do it alone. I also work with brands I love and support their products for my community.”

Another is The Roaming Vet, which he created as a community for veterans and members of the military. “Combine outdoors and on the go.”

He started this business to give people something he didn’t have when he left the military and opened the door to start “a community that shared similar interests and passions in the outdoors:”

“My other company is The Roaming Vet, a community for veterans, service members and non-veterans to connect outdoors and while traveling. My idea behind starting The Roaming Vet was that I found other outdoor communities like the great Outsiders group. , Together I felt like I didn’t found the community I missed after leaving the military also found that this community was missing other service members and veterans. Thus Roaming Vet was born after the military and I found passion and purpose in the outdoors as well!”

Bri has a dog named Chandler

Walston is also an animal lover, which is evident in his relationship with his Australian Shepherd, Chandler.

According to an Instagram feed he shared in July, Walston recalled getting his dog “immediately after (he) returned to Alaska” after his deployment. Chandler was an eight-week-old puppy when she first went home with Walston, and they’ve been together for most of the past seven years:

“My dog’s name is Chandler and I got him as soon as I got back to Alaska from work. He’s been with me since he was about 8 weeks old and is almost 7 years old.”

She regularly posts about Chandler on Instagram and describes the animal as her own “best friend, soul dog, adventure partner, confidant and biggest hug:”

“I don’t think anyone can prepare you for having a 20-year-old dog become your best friend, soul dog, adventure partner, confidant, and biggest hugger.

There is no doubt that this is a love that I will experience uniquely only once in a lifetime.

To everyone here to meet Chandler – thank you for loving him.”

Her love for her pup also carries over into her work, as she promotes Niteizen’s Rad Dog collar and wears it on Chandler.

Bri’s time in Outlast Season 2 was one of the most exciting experiences of her life

In recent months, Walston has been optimistic about his working hours Outlast season 2

When it was announced that he would be cast, he called out the experience on Instagram “one of the most challenging and exciting experiences” had ever had:

“THE SECRET IS UP. From outdoorsman to survivalist??? Join me in reliving one of the most challenging and exciting experiences of MY LIFE with 15 guests as we are dropped into the Alaskan wilderness on @netflix survival reality ‘Outlast’ season 2.”

On TikTok, he explained the experience in more detail and invited time to the program “a truly once in a lifetime opportunity” telling fans how he got involved.

He reflected on his experiences of going out and how he is doing “someone on their team reached him” before sending the casting tape and continuing the series:

“Competing on a survival show on @netflix and being dropped into the Alaskan wilderness with complete strangers is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity and I think it’s a common curiosity about how people end up on these shows, qualifying and everything in between. .

To be honest, I don’t know their list exactly what they are looking for in terms of skills, experience, personality etc.

I only know my outdoor experience:

I grew up fishing, hiking, camping, and as I entered adulthood I began hunting/archery with friends and exes, spending hours at archery ranges, spent six years in the military, and expanded my outdoor education.

On the flip side, someone from their team contacted me and sent me a tape showcasing my experience and skills. What, I hope to find out more soon”
