And with that, we know our final headliner for the all-new LIDO Festival at Victoria this summer. In keeping with the rest of the lineup, it’s a huge one, a massive booking, in fact, with the Bristolian collective Massive Attack taking to the stage on June 6 for their first London headline show in nine years.
Massive Attack will be bringing the huge production of their heavily acclaimed live show while carrying on their work with Act 1.5 to decarbonise music events, which means that their headline show at LIDO Festival will be entirely powered by battery. The show will lower emissions and reduce air pollution in the area. It comes after Massive Attack and Act 1.5 hosted their first climate acceleration show in Bristol, which was the UK’s largest low-carbon event.
Speaking on the seismic event, Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja (3D) said: “To present London’s first ever 100% battery powered festival day with a dynamic range of artists is an optimum outcome for us.
“History shows it’s often the combination of art and science that overcomes the greatest challenges we face, so it’s good to see LIDO take learnings from our ACT1.5 event last year and apply those technologies to where they see emissions coming from. Clean productions beginning this journey to normalisation is good news for everyone, but especially for music fans that come to festivals and the local communities that live around them.”
Joining Massive Attack on the lineup will be Air; Guns will & The Alchemist as FORENSICS; and Artswith plenty more acts due to be announced in the leadup to the event.
