As Marvel’s Rivals is gearing up for its first holiday season as a fully released game, some beloved skin packs will be temporarily retired.

Developed by NetEase Games, Marvel’s Rivals has proven to be a bona fide hit among hero shooter gamers. Even those unfamiliar with this type of game have probably at least given it a try due to the appeal and wide variety of some of pop culture’s most recognizable heroes and enemies.

Expectations are high how Marvel’s Rivals will develop. Nevertheless, it can adopt stereotypical practices that players are used to, such as the rotating item trade.

Hawkeye & Captain America Marvel Rivals Skins are leaving the store

Marvel’s Rivals

Marvel’s RivalsThe Winter Celebration patch notes set the stage for a slew of updates that will hit the game on Friday, December 20th. This includes new game modes, festive skins and numerous bug fixes.

In particular, characters like Rocket Raccoon and Magik will receive limited-time releases of their unique holiday season skins. Jeff the Land Shark gets a free skin for those who don’t want to pay for cosmetics.

Along with these new skins, the others, namely Hawkeye’s Galactic Fangs and Captain America’s Galactic Talon bundles, will launch on Friday, December 27th. These bundles were available when Marvel’s Rivals launched on December 6 and cost 1,600 units (in-game currency; about $16).

As Marvel’s RivalsWinter Celebration will include five new party outfit sets, these older packs will likely be retired to allow players to purchase newer skins.

How do cosmetics work in Marvel Rivals?

Other popular hero shooters and even battle royale games like Overwatch and Fortniteare no strangers to constantly changing merchandise stores.

Skins and cosmetics that would otherwise be available one day can be retired for months (and even years), leaving players to wait for their next chance to grab these coveted items.

It seems so Marvel’s Rivals use the same approach. Skins and bundles circulate through the shop as newer ones enter the virtual market. The Hawkeye Galactic Fangs and Captain America Galactic Talon packs will likely return as coveted day one packs that fans will remember.

It remains a mystery when these bundles will return. As Marvel’s Rivals adapts skins from both Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is constantly changing as new and exciting skins keep popping up.

It’s enough to remember all of the MCU’s 2025 roster to understand how much content NetEase Games’ hero shooter has at its disposal.

While these Hawkeye and Captain America skins are being removed, there should be plenty more either left or coming soon in the store to keep players happy with the cosmetics pool.

Marvel’s Rivals is free to play on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
