Marks and Spencer shoppers have been swooning over a ‘lovely’ tea dress that’s perfect for nailing one of this summer’s biggest trends. The high street favourite’s Printed Frill Detail Maxi Tea Dress has been described as being ‘Bridgerton-esque’, ideal for fans of the show hoping to inject some ‘regencycore’ into their wardrobe.

With the Netflix series’ rising popularity, it’s no surprise we’re seeing more ruffles and frills flood the high street, and this £35 number is such a subtle and wearable nod to the trend. Boasting feminine frills and elasticated ruffled sleeves, the dress features a curved underbust and gathered seam for ‘a beautiful drape’ which skims the body without being overly clingy, The Mirror reports .

The maxi dress comes in sizes 12 – 14 in the polka dots due to overwhelming popularity and 8 – 22 in the floral print. It’s a go-to choice for any occasion, whether it’s a garden party, afternoon tea or something equally as regal. Said to be ‘selling fast’ on the website, the dress has earned itself a 4.3 star rating from shoppers who say they ‘love the colour and fit of this dress’.

One said: “Lovely dress in a lightweight viscose material. Received many compliments, mostly that it looked Bridgerton-isk (sic). I’m just under 5.5 and this came to just above ankle length. Its beautiful dress in all its simplicity. I would recommend it to others. Looks more expensive when worn.”

“Lovely Dress, lovely colours,” wrote a second. “I’m size 10/12 purchased the size 12, quite long but just above my shoes. Bought the Red and Cream dress worn it for afternoon tea had lots of compliments friend said she was going to buy it too. Also bought the Red Block heel mules that went well with the dress.”

Polka dots never go out of style and this M&S dress is the perfect example of a timeless wardrobe must-have

One did say that it was ‘very tight across the bust’, while another said it was ‘nice material but neckline far too low’ but others have said it ‘fits well and can be dressed up with heels or worn with white trainers .’

Another added: “Lovely floaty dress can be dressed up or down . Will not date so will have it for a few years I think! Got the floral and the sporty versions.”

Speaking of royalty, polka dots are also a go-to for Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton who we have previously spotted wearing them during her royal duties. This Hobbs Lucilla Polka Dot Midi Shirt Dress oozes effortless class and is sure to be a timeless addition to any wardrobe, currently reduced from £189 to £129 at John Lewis.

Elsewhere, Joanie – known for their vintage-inspired designs – have got this Georgia Polka Dot Print Square Neck Dress which is £75 . Ticking all the style boxes, it has a super-flattering square neckline, short, floaty sleeves, an elasticated back panel for added comfort, and a midi-length tiered skirt.

But at £35, I doubt you’ll find one quite as nice for much cheaper than this one at M&S. You can buy the dress here , and if polka dots isn’t your thing, there’s also a floral version with pops of red, too.
