Marks and Spencer have launched a 50 per cent off sale that includes a huge range of items. Among them is the Textured Slub Slim Fit Waistcoat with Wool; originally £40, it’s now down to £20. The top comes in sizes extra small to extra large.
The waistcoat is made from loop-textured yarn. It’s cut to a slim fit and has extra stretch in the fabric; there’s also nine per cent wool included for extra warmth. The waistcoat fastens with three ties on the front, and it’s got a crew neck.
Alternatively, you can try the Oatmeal Tie Front Detail Tank, which is down to £45 from £89 at Whistles. The top also comes in black, and has a tie-close front.

Back at Marks and Spencer, the waistcoat has 4.6 stars from 17 reviews. One person said: “I found the waistcoat comfortable and stylish. Making an outfit with trousers or a skirt that extra special. The wool mix is a great idea too!”

“Love this,” a third wrote. “It’s really stylish when paired with a shirt or blouse. It feels surprisingly light and is very comfortable. Can be worn open or done up as works equally well both ways. The main gripe shoppers had with the top was the loop stitch; some worried it would catch on jewellery or bags. And another person said: “I like this mostly and am keeping it. I didn’t really like the string fastenings although know this seems a current theme. I might cut all but one of the off. Will decide later.”
But another happy shopper wrote: “Really lovely soft feel. The knitted pattern is great and the tie fixings are a nice touch.”
