1000-lb Sisters stars Amy Slaton and Michael Halterman went through a very ugly divorce in 2023, but there are hopeful signs that the couple are on the mend. When 1000-lb Sisters Amy and Michael, which premiered in 2020, were newlyweds and seemed like a happy couple. Michael was a fan favorite because he was always there for Amy and also for Amy’s family, especially her sister and avenger Tammy Slaton. Amy and Michael wanted children, but Amy weighed over 400 pounds at the time, which would make a healthy pregnancy impossible.

During 1000-lb Sisters in Season 1, Amy underwent bariatric surgery, lost 125 pounds, and had two healthy sons, Gage and Glenn Halterman. Amy was overwhelmed by motherhood, and she didn’t feel like she was getting enough help From Michael. Things came to a head when Amy and Michael’s marriage broke up 1000-lb Sisters season 5. After an ugly legal battle that included allegations of abuse that have since been dropped, Amy and Michael appear to be making amends.

After the ugly legal battle, the former couple had little contact with each other. Seems to have been a the recent change in their relationship and the thawing of the Cold War that has passed between them. Amy’s sister, Amanda Halterman recently posted a TikTok of the entire family hanging out at Amy’s house, including Tammy and their brother Chris Combs.

The post has 36.9k likes, with Amanda’s caption reading: “Uncle @Chris Combs & Aunt @Tammy L Slaton came to visit today. The babies were so happy to see their second TT & uncle @Amy halterman, we are blessed.”

Although his face is never shown, Michael is easily recognizable among the Slatons. Either Amy and Michael are on friendly terms again or they get back together.

Amy and Michael’s problems were revealed during 1000-lb Sisters season 5 when they got into a massive fight over Amy wanting her credit card and Michael refusing to give it up. Later, exhausted Amy cried when she explained to her sisters Tammy and Amanda Halterman that she wanted a divorce. “I used to be the glue that held our family together, but now I’m just used chewing gum,“Amy tearfully told her sisters.

Other Slatons have had difficult relationships. Amy’s sister Amanda went through an ugly divorce from Michael’s brother David Halterman. Chris is currently happily married to Brittany Combs, but only met her after divorcing his first wife. Tammy endured several terrible relationships before finally meeting and marrying a nice man. Unfortunately, Caleb Willingham died a few months after the wedding. With 1000-lb Sisters season 6 on the horizon, the status of Amy and Michael’s relationship is sure to be revealed.
