An escaped prisoner has been on the run for 12 days. Daniel Boakye, 21, legged it from Lewisham hospital at about 3.05pm last Sunday (February 15) having been apprehended following his previous escape.

The HMP Feltham inmate broke out of hospital on Tuesday, February 10 and was caught in Thamesmead the next day. It is not clear why Boakye, of Alma Road, Enfieldwas re-admitted to hospital but four days later he made a run for it again.

The police description of Boakye reads he is 21, black, of medium height and slim build. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark Nike jacket when he legged it. Boakye has appeared to have uploaded a video, which MyLondon won’t be sharing, to Instagram taunting the police.

He was jailed for six years and five months in July 2023 for a series of £115,000 cryptocurrency knifepoint robberies. He was also set to be deported to Ghana in the coming months, reports The Sun.

A picture of Boakye on a London bus was also circulated by the Met Police, although it hasn’t been confirmed which route. A Home Office spokesperson said: “All Foreign National Offenders who receive a prison sentence in the UK are referred for deportation at the earliest opportunity.

“We will not allow foreign criminals and illegal migrants to exploit our laws. We are reforming human rights laws and replacing the broken appeals system so we can scale up deportations.”
