Last year, London was treated to the ultimate celebration of pizza and beer. That event saw Londoners descending upon a London craft brewery taproom to sample some of the best pints and slices around. Happily, London’s first-ever pizza and beer festival was a resounding success, and the Slice-O-Mania festival is coming back for more this time.
Slice-O-Mania (like the Tacover by the same organisers) will take place at Signature Brewery, in Walthamstowtaking advantage of the combined indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as a rooftop terrace area. So, be sure to block off your calendars on July 20-21as you won’t want to miss out!
What to expect from Slice-O-Mania
The UK’s best pizza vendors – including the winner of the national Pizza Championship last year! – will each be serving up a classic margarita and a chef’s special; with pizzas going for £3 a slice. The offerings could take the form of a mini pie, a NY-style slice, or a wedge of Detroit-style pizza – with an emphasis on individual portions.
Basically, they want guests to be able to taste as widely as possible. There’s no point in only having one full-size pizza from one pizza vendor at a pizza festival! The whole affair will then culminate with the judging, where awards are given to the top pizzerias – in the form of the Heavyweight Pizza Championship Belts.
Mixology With Olly is also arriving on the scene to host an entire Margarita bar (because what else are you going to have with your slices of Margharita?), meaning you can sip on spicy and classic margs to your heart’s content. What’s more, anyone who buys a drink at the bar will be entered into a competition to win free canned cocktails.
Depending on the session you attend, different entertainment will be on offer. There is a Saturday and Sunday daytime session, plus an 18+ evening session on the Saturday. Expect DJ sets and live comedians to be peppered through the day as you munch down on your slices and order spicy margs by the jugs.
All the while, thanks to the festival’s location at Signature Brew, there will be plenty of sudsy, ice-cold beers to wash down the pizzas. It’s a day of pizza-munching and beer-crushing – can you think of anything better?
