London has officially been crowned the pizza capital of the UKso we can only assume that you’re looking for a slice of the action! According to a recent study that’s fresh out of the oven, London topped the charts with a whopping 1,454 pizza joints to choose from–60% of which are rated four stars or higher.

The study was conducted by Gozney, a premium outdoor oven brand, who investigated the number of pizza joints in the most populated British citiesas well as the number of pizza places rated 4 stars or above, and the average yearly search volume for pizza-related terms.

So, if you’re one of the many people who have Googled “pizzeria near me” or “best pizza in London”, you’re part of the almost three million annual pizza-related searches in the capitalwhich is more than any other city in the UK.

When it comes to the highest-rated pizzeriasit seems like Londoners love Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza on Tottenham Court Road (and rightfully so), as well as Crisp Pizza, Napoli on the Road, and Yard Sale Pizzaall of which have received stellar reviews on TripAdvisor.

Of course, it would be rude not to mention some of the runner-ups since you’re probably a devoted pizza pilgrim or lover of Italian cuisine. Leeds comes in second place surprisingly, boasting an impressive 216 pizza restaurants. Of these, almost half (107) hold a four-star rating or higher, making it easy to find good-quality pizza in this beloved Northern city.

Rounding off the top five on the list, the study continued to highlight our country’s appreciation for a good pizza pie, with Manchester taking third place, Glasgow in Scotland for fourth, followed by Birmingham.

However, it’s important to note that this study only includes brick-and-mortar pizza places, and with street pizza on the rise, there’s bound to be a plethora of even more hidden gems for a cheeky Margarita.

Tom Vincent, Founder of Vincenzo’s, said:The UK pizza scene is on fire right now with London being a real hub for pizza pioneers both in the restaurants and on the streets within markets and pop ups.”

“The pizza scene growing beyond traditional brick-and-mortar restaurants has further catapulted the evolution of the slice, with new street food vendors popping up all over the country and innovating when it comes to flavours, styles and so much more.”

So, what are you waiting for? Now that London is officially the pizza capital of the UK, it’s time to head out to grab a slice or two of the best pizza in the country. We have earned it, after all!
