Time for everyone walking through the centre of London to morph into an oversized elf to get to work on the Christmas party in Leicester Square. Okay, not quite… but it really is almost Christmas, and that obviously means there is fun a-happening in the bustling plaza that is Leicester Square. And you can note down November 6 as the day that the fun begins!

Alongside the string of cinemas and eateries that make up the square, you’ll be treated to a string of Christmas market stalls pop up around the area amid the increasing festivity of the season.

Of course – people don’t flock over to the square at Christmas just for the tidy helpings of bratwurst and barrels of glühwein. The Cliquethe world-famous, Olivier Award-winning performance is bringing its Mirror tent back for 2024, which just so happens to be the 20th anniversary of the variety shows! It’s festive, it’s sparkling… it’s really the centre of one of the most central markets in London, and you’d be a fool to miss it if you haven’t checked it out before.

Given its early November start datethe market arrives just after we lose a precious hour of sunlight after the dreaded daylight saving hits us. While the darkness may hit us offensively early from that moment on, it will give us the perfect setting for a fabulously festive Christmas market underneath a smattering of Christmas lights. While we pine for those longer days to come back, the serene Christmas settings are a welcome (and pretty) distraction.

Leicester Square Christmas markets will run from November 6, 2024 – January 5, 2025. Entry will cost you absolutely nothing, but you’ll need to book La Clique in advance which is priced at £26.50. Find out more information via the market’s website.
