Lauryn Hill and The Fugees will entertain London crowds tonight (Monday October 14) when they bring ‘The Celebration Continues’ to London’s O2 Arena. The tour is a co-headlined extension of The Miseducation Anniversary Tour in honor of the landmark album released in 1998.

The legendary artists are in the middle of their European leg of the tour and have already performed in Dublin, Cardiff and Manchester. They are set to head to Cologne in Germany alongside awe-inspiring crowds with their iconic anthems.

What time does Lauryn Hill take the stage?

Doors for the gig at 02 are set to open at 6.30pm. If the shows are like some of the previous events, there will be DJs from 7pm to 9pm before Lauryn starts at 21.00. However, Lauryn Hill has been known to be late to her shows – so much so that there is an entire Wikipedia section dedicated to her tardiness.

At worst, Lauryn Hill has been two and a half hours late for a gig in 2010 and for another gig in 2016 in Atlanta she was two hours late – only then performing for 40 minutes due to the venue’s 11pm curfew. The O2 Arena also has a curfew at 23.00.

Fortunately, the singer was only 15 minutes late for her show in Manchester a couple of days ago and there have been no reports of significant delays to any shows so far.

The Fugees part of the show is the second half that you can expect around 10:00 p.m. There is also support from Lauryn Hill’s son, YG Marley. YG will perform with Lauryn.

Current members of The Fugees

The Fugees originally formed in 1990 in South Orange, New Jersey. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean and Pras Michel joined forces to create one of the most prominent groups of the 1990s with their 1996 album The Score, which went to number one around the world. It won a Grammy for Best Rap Album in 1997 and is one of the best-selling albums of all time.

The band split up shortly after and went on to solo projects in 1997, reforming for two years from 2004 to 2006. In September 2021, the band reformed again to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their album. The tour was postponed and then canceled due to Covid and then in August this year they were due to start touring again before it was canceled three days before with no reason given.

Since the latest cancellation, Pras has sued Hill for breach of contract for the tour cancellation which Hill has called the lawsuit “baseless” and “full of false claims and unwarranted attacks”.

It comes as no surprise then that Pras is not appearing on this tour with Hill and Jean as The Fugees.
