MIKO Mei Fair is opening this spring

When Samyukta Nair closed KOYN last year, we were told that the only the Japanese part of the restaurant would be going for good and that downstairs concept KOYN Thai would be relocated. Now we know that it’s being reimagined at MIKO Mei Fair and it’ll be taking up residence on the ground floor of Nair’s Chinese restaurant MiMi Mei Fair. That means more maximalist interiors, including timber panelling, red leather booths, gold leaf lotuses and tropical wall coverings.

Soonthorn Apaipat, Head Chef of KOYN Thai, is making the move across Mayfair to cook up a menu that mixes new dishes and KOYN Thai favourites. Expect the likes of:

  • netted spring rolls
  • prawns pla ra
  • toasted rice beef tenderloin
  • lobster choo chee
  • apple wood fire Peking duck Penang curry
  • Chiang Mai sausage
  • black pepper squid
  • pad see ew
  • lamb massaman curry
  • yellow crab curry

The bar will showcase tropical fruits and spices across the cocktail list, with serves like the Sabai Sabai (Mekong rum, kaffir lime, Thai basil and soda), the Golden Mango Margarita (tequila blanco, Cointreau, mango and lime) and the Hibiscus Negroni (hibiscus mezcal, sakura vermouth and Campari).

Speaking about the new opening, Samyukta Nair said: “MIKO Mei Fair represents a natural evolution, bringing together warm, intimate dining with the focus and discipline of fire led cooking. It is a celebration of Thailand’s energy and generosity, expressed through layered interiors, vibrant ingredient led dishes and heartfelt hospitality. At its core is Thai cuisine prepared with precision and soul, grounded in craft and designed to be shared. While MIKO Mei Fair and MiMi Mei Fair share the same townhouse and devotion to detail, they each have their own identity and spirit. We look forward to welcoming guests to experience Thailand from the heart of Mayfair, in a setting that feels both alive and deeply personal.”
