After the three wives were saved, a “bash Kody” smear campaign was launched. All the misery, anger and jealousy that Meri, Janelle and Christine had lived with for decades came out. Janelle chose a biblical reference, perhaps subconsciously emphasizing the fact that the Bible “told” her to obey Kody. Men should be in charge, but are they really better judges of…anything? Janelle had to answer this question. He objected to her “leadership” – when he did so, in a sense, he questioned his faith.

Janelle’s common sense kicked in – she dismissed Kody’s orders because they made no sense to her. This was the first domino to fall. Janelle had other issues with Kody, including the fact that he didn’t have much money despite working for years to support the large Brown family. Like Kody, he was once the breadwinner of the Brown family.
