Sister wives star Meri Brown may have split from her polygamous ex-husband, but she’s still trapped in a seemingly never-ending relationship problem. The 53-year-old mother of one is not without blame after spending many years in marital purgatory with 55-year-old Kody Brown. Meri was Kody’s first wife, and the couple married in 1990, but ended up having four wives. Meri was the first of Kody’s wives and the last to walk out on him in 2022.




Before the Brown family began to fall apart, Kody had four wives and 18 children and never had enough to go around. Things got worse when Kody married his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, in 2010. The polygamous patriarch was accused of favoring his new, younger wife and neglecting the rest of his family to be with her and her children. Although Meri was the one who introduced Kody to Robyn, he is the one who suffered the most from neglect. Sister wives season 19 found Meri divorced from Kody, but still trapped in marital purgatory.

While many speculated that Robyn was Kody’s favorite wife, there was no doubt that Meri was Kody’s least favorite wife. The Sister wives the season 19 star got less of her husband’s time and affection than any other family member, but she stuck around. In 2014, he wanted to adopt Robyn’s children from his first marriage, Kody legally divorced Meri so she could marry Robyn. Even though she was upset, Meri stayed put even after Kody told her he wasn’t into her, which was a mistake.

During the second period Sister wives season 19, Kody is brutally honest about his early life with Meri. In a camera interview Kody said that Meri changed after they got married and became a difficult person be imminent. He used the word “mad” to describe the Sea and said she knew early on that she couldn’t live with him. He hinted that this was the main reason they opened their marriage to new wives. He didn’t like Mere, but he didn’t want to divorce her, so he married other women to be happy.

Kody said that when he married his second wife, Janelle Brown, it diluted the dysfunction in Kody and Meri’s marriage, which was further marred by the addition of his third wife, Christine Brown. When he married his fourth wife, Robyn Brown, his relationship with Meri was dead. In Kody’s defense, he had been honest with Meri about his lack of feelings for her for years, and she still held back. It’s up to him to break the cycle.

On time early Sister wives in the season 19 episode, Kody talked about how he wished that Meri could just go away, but Meri refuses to go quietly. Meri went to their church to officially end their spiritual union. Either Meri still believes in the principal and may appear to be in another polygamous marriage, or he is angry with Kody and wants to punish him for the wrong. Anyway, it’s another example of Meri being largely responsible for her still being stuck in purgatory with a man who doesn’t love her.
