The Belfry Hotel & Resort, located in the heart of Royal Sutton Coldfield, has appointed Katie Niland as its new Commercial Director. This promotion highlights his proven track record of inspiring excellence and driving growth. In her new role, Katie will guide the award-winning resort through the next exciting phase of its ambitious £80m expansion.

With more than three decades of experience in the restaurant industry and a decade as sales director of The Belfry, Katie brings extensive leadership skills to her new role as commercial director. In this role, he will drive the resort’s commercial success by uniting the sales, revenue, resort and marketing teams under a unified, purposeful and inspiring strategy.

Commenting on her promotion, Katie said: “These are exciting times for The Belfry, so becoming Commercial Director is an incredible opportunity. I have a fantastic team around me and together I know there is no limit to what we can achieve. As we strengthen The Belfry’s reputation as a world-class leisure and events destination, I am excited for what lies ahead to the task and excited about its possibilities.”

A distinguished ambassador and role model for gender equality and a staunch advocate for the hospitality industry, Katie earned a place on Boutique Hotelier’s Power List in 2022 in recognition of her significant contribution to the industry. He is an active member of several industry associations, including mia and beam, and is a regular speaker at panels and events. In addition, he plays a key role in facilitating the use of The Belfry as a host venue for these gatherings.

Opening in September 2025, The Masters Suite, The Belfry’s largest event space to date, is currently under construction. In addition, a state-of-the-art new Leisure Club will be built, and the resort’s 2AA Rosette restaurant, Ryder Grill, will expand to accommodate more than 150 guests.
