Following a recent unannounced audit, JS Davidson has this year been awarded an AA+ rating for warehousing and distribution by the BRCGS.
Over the last couple of years, the heat-controlled solutions specialist has invested heavily in its operations and has achieved the AA+ BRCGS rating until February 2025, and its crowning rating has been the AA+ accreditation for the time being.
JS Davidson, formerly Chiltern Cold Storage Group before rebranding in November 2022, was one of the first temperature-controlled logistics companies to be awarded the BRC Global Storage and Distribution Standard in the UK.
The BRCGS warehousing and distribution standard is designed for logistics operators handling food, packaging and consumer products and aims to reflect best practice and facilitate the process of well-designed risk-based product safety management systems. It also ensures that food quality and safety remain optimal both during storage and distribution.
Although AA is the highest BRCGS audit grade, companies participating in an unannounced visit receive a + after their grade as they choose a higher level of challenge, ultimately demonstrating real confidence in the quality of their day. – daily operating and food safety procedures.
Rebranded from the British Retail Consortium in 2019, the BRCGS sets international standards for food safety and acts as proof that organizations can comply with regulations for the safe storage and distribution of food. They prevent cross-contamination of foodstuffs and ensure the protection of the end consumer.
The coveted AA+ rating comes at a time when the company has invested heavily in streamlining its operations over the past 18 months, having pumped a seven-figure sum into improvements such as a new compressor, air-cooled cooling tower, new. warehouse management system and electrical installation updates.
Following a number of high-profile contract wins, it has also welcomed David Davidson, son of CEO John Davidson, who was recently appointed as the company’s new chief operating officer to oversee the day-to-day operations of the fast-growing business.
John Davidson, CEO of JS Davidson commented: “To not only renew last year’s BCRSG rating but also to beat it is a huge testament to the commitment and dedication of our highly regarded team to ensure products are handled both safely and compliantly.
“When the supply chain is monitored even more and customer expectations are growing, the significance of BRCSG accreditation for business is enormous. We are one of the first thermo-regulated operators to be granted accreditation back in 2006, which has strengthened our ability to retain and attract high-profile brands to our ever-growing client portfolio.
“At JS Davidson, we strive to ensure that excellence becomes second nature, not just a process. That’s why we value the BRCGS standard so highly, because it very much reflects our core mission of doing things right and gives a strong impression of the excellent work we do here every day.”
John continued: “Having recently gone through a company-wide rebrand and recently completed a major investment in the business, the AA+ rating is yet another milestone the company has achieved this year and we couldn’t be more pleased.”
