Bachelorette season 21 recently came to its dramatic conclusion, and Jenn Tran shouldn’t have proposed to Devin Strader. His decision to propose to her instead of letting her propose to him probably destroyed the relationship by turning Jenn and Devin’s dynamic on its head. 26-year-old Jenn debuted on television last year Bachelor season 28. The physician’s assistant was one of 32 women competing for Joey Graziadei’s heart, but was sent home before the hometown date.
Even though Jenn didn’t win Joey’s final Rose, she was chosen Bachelorette season 21 as the lead and dated 25 eligible bachelors. After being swept off her feet after the season, Jenn sent everyone home except Devin, a 28-year-old freight company owner. Deven picked out a ring for Jenni and was ready to propose to her, but he turned the tables and proposed to her instead. Although Jenn felt empowered by the choice, reversing the dynamic of the relationship probably led to Devin pulling away.

From the moment Devin stepped out of the limo that first night Bachelorette in season 21, he was laser-focused on Jenni. He did everything he could to get Jenni’s attention, even interrupting her time with other men. Although her aggressive tactics made all the other men hate her, it got the job done and he was the last man standing.
In the end, Jenn took it to Devin and 31-year-old Marcus Shoberg, but unlike Devin, Mark wasn’t so sure about his feelings, so Jenn sent him home.

Devin chased Jenni hard and she started chasing him, a dynamic that worked well for them. He liked to chase, and he liked to be chased. Part of Jenn’s backstory was that she always chose men who weren’t that interested in her, but here she was choosing a man who almost desperately wanted her. Fans were surprised when during Bachelor season 21 finale, Jenn revealed that Devin had pulled out after the proposal.
While there was some speculation that Devin had misled her, the truth is that Jenn denied him by giving chase.
Producers Let Jenn Down
They should never have let him propose
Assuming the suggestion was Jenni’s idea, the producers Bachelor season 21 should have known better. They simply shouldn’t have let him do it because they should have known Dev wouldn’t like it. They may have been hungry first for the other Bachelorbut a successful relationship would have been better for the brand in the long run.
