Jeff Lynne’s ELO are waving goodbye to performing with a big gig at Hyde Park next summer. The Birmingham rockers will headline the British Summer Time (BST) festival on Sunday 13 July before calling it a day in their impressive 55-year career.
The band is best known for Mr. Blue Sky, Don’t Bring Me Down and Last Train to London and will bring their charts and signature UFO to the Great Oak stage for a night to remember. The show comes after their final US date on Friday (October 25), where they will be joined by rock group Rooney.
Frontman Jeff Lynne said: “My return to touring started at Hyde Park in 2014. It seems like the perfect place to do our last show.
“We couldn’t be more excited to share this special night in London with our UK fans. As the song goes, ‘we’re gonna do it One More Time!'”
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday 25 October. These can be purchased via the BST Hyde Park website and on Ticketmaster.
American Express cardholders can also access a pre-sale starting today (Monday, October 21). This closes at 10am on Wednesday 23 October.
There is no information on ticket prices yet but previous BST shows cost around £90-£115. Tickets for the band’s current tour of America started at around £102.
They will now play their last ever gig at West London Park as part of the wider BST line-up. This has yet to be announced but previous performers include Andrea Bocelli, Robbie Williams, Shania Twain, Stevie Nicks and Kylie Minogue.
