Pub giant JD Wetherspoon has announced that he intends to expand more than 1,000 locations with Franchise hotels.

The company currently has over 800 pubs, and last year, founder Sir Tim Martin suggested that 1,000 locations may be the upper limit of the brand.

Wetherspoon has collaborated with real estate consultant Christie & Co to attract hotel officers throughout the UK by looking for “cost-effective conversion” an existing “poorly” hotel restaurant Wetherspoon.

Wetherspoon stated that Franchising partners benefit from their design team support and access the pub group supply chain, training and marketing resources.

This move is followed by a recent report by NIQ’s Zonal and CGA, according to which half of the hotel guests prefer to order a takeaway or dine elsewhere.

Wetherspoon has strengthened its franchise business in recent years, launching its first Franchise pub in the Hull University Student Union in January 2022, followed by one at the University of NewCastle in September 2023 and the second in the Primrose Valley Holiday Park in North -Yorkhire in March 2024.

The company plans to open five more Franchise pubs in the second half of the current financial year. Four worked with Haven Holiday Parks.

Christie & Co’s senior leader Simon Chaplin said: “We are delighted to help both the strong brand and Wetherspoo using this route to expand. We have a considerable hospitality expertise in the United Kingdom, which, combined with franchise work, should help us secure a number of new Wetherspoon -franchis. has already been. “
