Palazzo di Varignana presents “September in the vineyard”: a celebration of wine, gastronomy and nature
Palazzo di Varignana, a chic resort nestled in the hills of Bolognese, has announced its new “September in the Vineyard” experience for 2024. Running from September 1st to 30th, the month-long celebration will offer a series of exclusive events from tastings to tours – focusing on the connection between people and wine.
Located in the heart of Emilia-Romagna, Palazzo di Varignana and its carefully curated festival invite guests to discover the rich traditions of grape growing and harvesting. This includes the highlight of the season, Cantina in Festa, on September 15, where visitors can see the harvest firsthand during morning and evening sessions.
The year-round Vinum Experience is complemented by outdoor elements, and the “September in the Vineyard” feature begins with a premium wine tasting held in the estate’s semi-subterranean cellar, where guests can taste a selection of Palazzo di Varignana’s wines. Palazzo di Varignana now produces five wine labels from its 57 hectares of vineyards, from Chardonnay Colli di Imola DOC to Sangiovese Superiore DOC and Pinot Nero Rubicone IGT.
The “September in the vineyard” event is further enriched by the tasting of single-varietal and blended extra-virgin olive oils and a bio-walk through the vineyards of Agrivari, Palazzo di Varignana’s own farm. Wine is also central to the Italian resort’s wellness offering, and Palazzo di Varignana offers a unique 50-minute facial with Sangiovese cream at Varsana SPA, which helps fight the signs of aging.
Throughout September, Il Grifone, Palazzo di Varignana’s own fine dining restaurant, also offers a special tasting menu prepared by renowned chef Francesco Manograsso. Designed to highlight the estate’s unique wines, Manograsso’s menu takes you on a culinary journey that complements the flavors and aromas of the region’s wine. This includes Palazzo di Varignana’s recently launched Villa Amagioia Blanc de Blancs Metodo Classico Brut.
Released this year as part of a growing portfolio, Villa Amagioia Blanc de Blancs Metodo Classico Brut is a testament to the estate’s innovative approach to winemaking. Blending tradition and modernity, this sparkling wine offers citrus aromas and fresh, salty notes that capture the essence of Palazzo di Varignana.
In 2017, Palazzo di Varignana launched its winemaking project by planting a selection of domestic and international grape varieties. Grape varieties chosen for their ability to boldly reflect the Varignana region include Sangiovese, Malbo Gentile, Pignoletto, Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Pinot Bianco. Committed to sustainable development, Palazzo di Varignana also uses its 242-hectare Agrivar farm to grow olive trees and fruit and vegetables used to prepare the resort’s restaurant dishes.
Palazzo di Varignana’s special “September in the Vineyard” packages start at €541 per couple and include luxury accommodation and access to the Varsana SPA in addition to curated wine experiences.
