After a treacherously cold and blustery week that brought with it the dusting of snow which almost needed binoculars to see, ‘the sky’ is pleased to announce that it’s more of the same in the near future.
Well, this time it’s going to be even colder, which may negate the use of a microscopic instrument to see the larger flakes of snow that are due to appear. London is going to be plunged into a sub-zero pit next week, with temperatures dropping to lows of -3°C (though the Met Office has said it could feel like -5°C!).
This weekend (January 13-14) will seem comparatively toasty with highs of 6°C, before it takes a plunge on Monday, January 15. While the Met Office currently has the chance of snow as low, there are predictions for light showers and snow to hit the capital on Wednesday, January 15.
It’s going to be the case across the UK, with the Met Office predicting that the snow will be at its most disruptive in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Now this is the weather in London we’re talking about, so be sure to prepare for changes, for better or worse, at any time. Come Wednesday, there could be not a cloud in the sky and not a snowflake to speak of (or capture on your phone camera), or we might get the city entirely covered in the stuff. All we do know is that it will indeed be positively freezing, so wrap up in the biggest coat you own to combat the conditions while you enjoy all London has to offer. Who knows, it might even last a little longer than the novelty shower on Monday lunchtime did.
