Netflix kicked off the new year in the best way possible with a brand new Harlan Coben mystery series Fool Me Once dropping on the platform on New Year’s Day. The binge-worthy series is an adaptation of Coben’s novel of the same name and sees widow Maya Stern (Michelle Keegan) try to uncover what really caused her husband’s murder after she spots him alive in her nanny cam, weeks after his apparent death.

The fast paced series is full of deception, shocking revelations and so many twists and turns we need a notebook to keep track of all the various sub-plots. And after that jaw-dropping ending, we’re seriously wondering whether we’ll see some of the characters return for a season two. So is there going to be a second season of Fool Me Once? Here’s what we know so far.

Is there going to be a season 2 of Fool Me Once?

Ok Harlan Coben fans, we hate to disappoint you but right now it doesn’t look like there’s going to be a second season of Fool Me Once.

Over the last few years Netflix has created a number of series based on Harlan Coben’s novels, after the writer signed a five year contract with the company in 2018. These have included series such as Safe, The Stranger and Stay Close.

Each series has been done as a limited series, meaning there was no sequel or follow up to the original series. So if we follow this pattern, it’s unlikely we’ll see Detective Kierce return to solve any more murders in a new series.

As of yet there’s been no word on what Harlan Coben’s next project with Netflix will be but we’ll keep our fingers crossed for another series sometime soon.

What could Harlan Coben’s next Netflix project be?

It’s unlikely we’ll see Fool Me Once return for a sequel as the Netflix series was based on Harlan Coben’s novel of the same name which was a stand alone novel.

So far Netflix has created series based on the novels The Stranger, The Woods, The Innocent, Gone For Good, Stay Close, Hold Tight and Fool Me Once.

However, Harlan Coben has written plenty of other novels which are yet to be adapted. From his very first novel Play Dead published in 1990, which tells the story of a honeymoon that turns into a disaster after the husband never returns from a swim, to his most recent release in 2023 I Will Find You, in which an innocent father who is in prison for the death of his son, discovers he may actually be alive and seeks to find out the truth, there’s a lot of opportunities for new TV series at Netflix, and we would gladly watch every single one.
