Shahnan Bakth has been elected, unopposed, as the new Chairman of the Corporation’s Investment Committee.
The Investment Committee is responsible for the strategic oversight and monitoring of the performance of the City Corporation’s investment portfolios, setting strategy and ensuring sustainable returns across its private, charitable, and public funds. It also aligns investment decisions with the Corporation’s climate action and responsible investment goals.
Shahnan, who serves as an elected member of the ’s Court of Common Council, had previously served as Deputy Chair of the Investment Committee from 2023 to 2025.
A seasoned finance professional, Shahnan brings over 16 years’ experience across major financial institutions in the US and Europe. A specialist in risk management, he successfully navigated the Global Financial Crisis, Eurozone Debt Crisis and Brexit for leading banks. More recently, he has led cross-asset distribution at a top European bank, structuring complex financings for asset managers, pension funds, hedge funds and private markets investors.
