London’s iconic nightclub Tiger Tiger has closed its doors after 26 years of operation. Planning applications suggest the site could soon be turned into a 507-bedroom hotel.

Opened in 1998 in London’s Haymarket, the flagship Tiger Tiger nightclub was owned by Novus Leisure. According to Companies House records, the company reported a debt of £91,156 for the period ending December 31, 2023.

A statement on the Tiger Tiger website said: “Tiger Tiger London is now closed. Thank you to all customers, promoters, DJs, managers, staff and partners for years of incredible memories.”

Proposals to turn the Tiger Tiger site into a hotel with a new eighth floor and roof terrace are currently awaiting approval from Westminster City Council.

In May of this year, Centro Planning Consultancy submitted an application on behalf of the client for the alteration and extension of the existing building to create a hotel. The design and license notice was provided by Ryder Architecture.

The 15-page planning statement described the proposed hotel as incorporating Haymarket House, an eight-storey art deco building with two basement levels. The ground floor and basement of the building, which previously served as office space, currently houses a restaurant, a comedy club and the now closed nightclub Tiger Tiger.

Under current proposals, the property would have 507 bedrooms, 10% of which are designed for wheelchair access, ensuring the hotel meets accessibility standards.
