Supermarket giant Iceland wants to spice up England’s easy performance at Euro 2024 by unveiling an extra-hot limited edition Vindaloo – in honor of the iconic football song. Iceland and The Food Warehouse have unveiled the spicy dish with the lyrics to the Fat Les hit to combat a string of 0-0 draws and drum up support for Southgate’s side.

Customers can now pick up the dinner, with the tongue-in-cheek packaging featuring the word “Vindaloo” 10 times, starting today. Wanting to raise support for the boys even further, staff filmed themselves miming and marching along to the hit in a hilarious video filmed in store.

A study revealed that half of the nation (52%) consider the 1998 anthem ‘Vindaloo’ to be one of the most iconic England songs of all time. Of the 2,000 people polled, almost half (46%) think the song should have taken the top spot when it was first released.

A total of 85% of those polled also agree that watching England take penalties makes them more nervous and sweaty than eating a Vindaloo. But the store aims not only to entice customers’ taste buds, but also to give them the chance at net prices.

The retailer is hiding £20 vouchers in ready-to-eat wrappers in selected surprise stores across England from today. Andrew Staniland, Group Buying Director at Iceland Foods and The Food Warehouse, said: “England have officially advanced to the knockout stage and it is now time for us to rally behind the team.

“Vindaloo is a timeless anthem and to increase support amongst our customers we are celebrating by introducing special limited editions of our delicious Vindaloo meals.”
