Venturing out for food and drink can be thrilling, but often the prices prove off-putting. Fortunately, there are numerous initiatives, such as Too Good To Go, which help keep costs down while, more crucially, reducing food waste.

Recently, one foodie collected a Too Good To Go bag from the “strangest” location yet in London. Bryce revealed the order was being picked up from someone’s flat, specifically from a restaurant called Zagga’s Good Food in Islington, which set him back just £5. Discussing his latest adventure, he remarked: “This is the strangest Too Good To Go we’ve ever picked up.”

Sharing details about his order with his 47,300 TikTok followers, Bryce said: “It looks like we have just the one box, it smells delicious already. What have we got inside of the box?”

Upon opening the container, Bryce informed viewers there was plantain, onions, some type of rice underneath with beans and a “mystery” meat which he subsequently identified as fish.

He continued: “What a strange Too Good To Go… I’m really excited to try the plantain.” After sampling the plantain, he enthused: “I have a lot of it in my life, that is the best plantain I’ve ever had in my life.”

He then turned his focus to the fish, describing it as “nicely cooked” with “really good” flavours that are “unreal”.

However, when tasting the rice, Bryce observed: “It’s lacking some flavour… I think the fish and plantain together is going to be a winning ticket, man that’s good.

“I would pay more than £5 for that in any restaurant. It’s strange it was someone’s house but I respect the hustle you know.”

Zagga’s Good Food is a Caribbean eatery situated in Islington. According to Google, it boasts a 4.9 out of 5 star rating with dishes priced between £1-£10.

The menu features an array of flavourful options, including curry chicken and curry goat, both priced at £12.

For accompaniments, diners can choose from sweet potato chips, plantain, jerk chips and even mac and cheese. Beverages include Super Malt and ginger beer, both costing less than £2.

The Too Good To Go app is the world’s largest surplus food marketplace. It provides an excellent opportunity to combat food waste by linking customers with restaurants and shops offering unsold surplus meals.
