Hungarian Grand Prix: preview
Mercedes couldn’t make it three in a row, could they? While George Russell’s victory was aided by a pretty sizeable stroke of fortune, the Silver Arrows were near-perfect in Austria. They secured a front-row lockout, and Lewis Hamilton drove a superb race to score his first victory in 31 months. Guess where he secured his most recent pole. At the Hungaroring 12 months ago.
Incredibly, the Mercedes drivers have now won more races than McLaren duo Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri. As brilliantly as Russell, Hamilton and Mercedes’ engineering team have performed, there’s no denying that McLaren have repeatedly let golden opportunities slip through their fingers.
Max Verstappen drove Norris off the track at the Red Bull Ring, and is currently 84 points ahead of the British driver in the 2024 F1 driver’s championship. Can Lando make amends and draw Max into a genuine title fight this weekend?

What are the best TV settings for F1?
Avoid your TV’s ‘Sport’ and choose ‘Filmmaker’ or ‘Cinema’ mode. Why? Because less processing is better when it comes to F1 (as it is with most content), and the Filmmaker Mode is almost always the least-processed mode that a TV has. You can then use that as a base level for making further tweaks. If your TV doesn’t have a Filmmaker Mode, look for a mode labelled ‘Cinema’, ‘Movie’ or, in the case of Sony, ‘Custom’.
