How Matt Roloff’s feud with Zach Roloff ruined the show

Zach Roloff’s time is on Little people, big world has ended after an issue with her father, Matt Roloff, that plagued previous seasons of the show. Zach was 13 when he made his reality TV debut alongside his family in 2006 Small people, big world season 1 premiere. More than 18 years later, fans have watched Zach grow from a teenager to a man with a wife, Tori, and three children: Jackson, Lilah, and Josiah Roloff. However, as the firstborn in the family alongside his twin Jeremy Roloff, Zach had a lot of expectations on his shoulders.

Despite the family’s early success on the show, things changed a bit Small people, big world. Amy Roloff married Chris Marek after her marriage to Matt fell apart. Meanwhile, Jeremy and his wife Audrey Roloff left the show to focus on other projects. Amid these changes and departures, Zach remained committed to his father and his duties on the family farm, which he believed he would one day lead. However, Zach got a rude awakening when Matt sold parts of the farm, and now Zach and Tori have announced their separation Small people, big world.

Also, when it became clear that Matt and Amy’s marriage was headed for divorce, Amy sold her share of Roloff Farms to Matt, assuming that he would one day pass the farm on to one or more of their children.

However, Matt surprised everyone when he put the 16-acre farm, including their original family home, on the market without consulting his children. Although most of the children were unhappy with Matt’s transfer, Zach saw this as the ultimate betrayal of his father, which started a father-son feud between Matt and Zach. Matt added insult to injury when he offered the lot to Zach for $4 million, a price he knew his son couldn’t afford. Matt’s decisions made Zach realize that despite being a slave, his father wasn’t going to give him the farm.

After realizing that Matt had no intention of ever giving up the farm, Zach’s relationship with his father worsened. Their feud spread to social media in 2020 Zach cried his father”manipulating the narrative” after Matt strangely blamed his sons for why he sold part of the farm. After Matt’s trick, Zach realized his family’s future lay elsewhere, and later moved his wife Tori and their children Jackson, Lilah, and Josiah into a spacious estate in Battleground, Washington, where the family could do their own projects.

Zach’s decision to leave Roloff Farms hurt everything about his relationship with Matt. His father became an insignificant part of the family’s life and many of their father-son interactions hinged on Matt’s desire to connect with his grandchildren. In addition to the tension between them, the family’s move to Washington also meant a decrease in Zach and his family in the series. Zach’s final announcement that he and his family would be leaving Little people, big world may have been shocking, but it was also to be expected since her relationship with Matt never improved.

Zach and Matt’s relationship is beyond repair

After Matt and Zach fell out, it seemed like they would never reconcile. Matt tried to reassure Zach when he bought his son a lawnmower, noting:Maybe a lawnmower can help start that saying, ‘Hey! Let’s move on.’” While Zach appreciated the Gift, he didn’t mince words, explaining that the gesture did little to change their strained relationship. After nearly four years of their estranged relationship, Zach sat down during it Little people, big world season 25 finale dealing with her and Matt’s future (via Entertainment tonight).

Zach has moved on from trying to make amends with Matt, noting that ship had sailed on the reconciliation plans and they don’t have much of a relationship anymore. Instead of trying to fix fences, Zach focuses on doing his own thing and takes care of his family. However, while time may heal things between Matt and Zach and they may one day find healing, Zach believes their relationship will never be the same. While the outdoors at Roloff Farms was a big part of Zach’s childhood, it isn’t for his kids.

Zach is creating a path away from Matt

Zach spent most of his adulthood playing second fiddle to his father, Matt, hoping that he could one day take over Roloff Farms. However, realizing that Matt had no intention of giving it up, Zach has taken steps to leave his father’s shadow and reveal his own identity. Zach’s first move was to move his family to Washington, D.C., where they could start a new family and try things out away from his father. In February, Zach and Tori released a podcast called Raising heights.

Zach and Tori’s podcast has been a huge hit Little people, big world fans. In one of their first episodes, the couple mentioned their plans to leave the series. Before moving, Zach coached competitive youth soccer teams in Oregon and participated in several international midget soccer tournaments. It wouldn’t be surprising to see him lace up his boots again in Washington. Having spent significant parts of the past 18 years as one of the main characters Small people, big world beside his father, Zach hopes to spend the next few years making a name for himself outside of the show.
