The developers achieve this with regular updates, bug fixes and adding new characters to the pool. More recently, its collaboration with Cowboy Bebop in season 9 brought many eyes to the game.

Do we know the number of active Overwatch 2 players?
Blizzard doesn’t release exact numbers of players in all editions of the game, so we’ll have to turn to a third party to make an educated guess.
According to Active Player, Overwatch 2 currently averages 6,295,175 players per day and totally attracted 23,315,464 active users in the last 30 days.
However, it should be noted that Active Player uses educated guesses to detect player counts. So while it offers a decent indicator, these numbers are by no means perfect.
As for peak numbers, Blizzard revealed it on October 14, 2022 25 million players had played Overwatch 2 during the first 10 days after the servers are online. These staggering numbers give us an idea of how the sequel to the hero shooter will perform at launch.

The launch was so successful that Overwatch 2 has already reached a peak daily player count almost three times higher than the original. But its move to a free-to-play model will also play a role.
