The National Theater has announced that rehearsals are in full swing for new drama, The Other Place, starring Emma D’Arcy. Directed by Alexander Zeldin, the play is inspired by the tragic Theban princess Antigone.

The Other Place follows the reunion of two sisters on the anniversary of their father’s death. Caught in a struggle of guilt, grief and greed, the family fights for different visions of their future.

Produced in association with A Zeldin Company, this poignant tale of sisterhood takes to the Lyttelton Theater stage for a limited run of performances, starting on 27 September 2024. The production will run at the National Theater until 9 November 2024.

Shows will run six days a week and offer both matinee and evening performances. BSL interpreted and ‘chill’ performances are also available, allowing for noise in the auditorium and re-entry for those who may need time away from the performance.

Emma D’Arcy, known for her leading role as Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s House of Dragon, will be joined on stage by Lee Braithwaite (Cowbois) and Alison Oliver (Saltburn). D’Arcy takes a step away from the world of fantasy and now aims at the world of theater inspired by Greek mythology.

Tickets can be purchased via the National Theatre’s website. Prices currently range from £20-£89. At 1pm this Friday (September 20), the company will release £10 ‘Friday Rush’ tickets for next week’s shows. Those aged 16-25 can access the National Theatre’s £5-£10 tickets for productions of the play.
