Despite the cancellation High heels In 2023, many fans are longing for more seasons of the Stephen Amell-led series.
High heelswhich aired on Starz from 2021 to 2023, was Stephen Amell’s first major role since the Arrowverse. He took on professional wrestler Jack Spade, who had a feud with his younger brother and fellow wrestler Ace.
Stephen Amell wants more high heels
talking with Cracked open podcastst, former Green Arrow, Stephen Amell discussed his hopes and dreams for continuing his Starz wrestling drama. High heels.
The series has recently arrived on Netflix and was added on Sunday, September 15, which means that the first two seasons of the series will have a lot of new eyes. It said, High heels has yet to crack Streamer’s Top 10.
During his interview, Amell stated that if there were grounds to support a High heels Season 3, he thinks should be a Netflix Original:
“If there’s a hashtag that catches us, we want it to be #HeelsSeason3. And look, okay, no one took my advice by the way. It says season 1 and season 2 on Netflix. So the logical step forward would be to change it from a Starz original to a Netflix original or a Netflix series… “
Now, it’s important to note that there has been no official word from Netflix or Starz about a second season High heels. But Stephen Amell seems nothing if not tenacious and will likely continue to advocate for the revival.
Soon after that High heels2023 cancellation, showrunner Mike O’Malley confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the show was being shopped to streamers and other networks:
O’Malley emphatically stated that Season 3 was not intended to be Heels’ last, and that its ongoing storylines were created to promote progress:
“We didn’t intend, and we don’t intend, for this to be the last episode of the show. One thing we try to do on this show is honor the wrestlers, honor anyone who has a dream and stamina. Pursue that dream, sometimes that stamina can be misguided.”
He went on to explain the argument at the heart of the series, “How our humanity gets in the way of our own happiness.” He also detailed the motivations of the show’s main characters, including Amell’s Jack Spade:
“The show is really about how our humanity gets in the way of our own happiness? What happens at the end of the episode is that Jack, who has been treated a certain way by his father, sees Ace praising Ace. Continuum’s leader, Jen Lussier (played by Emmy Raver-Lampman), and here’s Jack, who’s still the boy who wanted to be loved by his father. That moment is just that he pushed it a step too far because his brother is being celebrated instead of him, and that’s the tragedy of it.”
Could Netflix really be kicking ass?
So, with High heels now firmly in the Netflix library, could the platform save the show for a third season (and beyond)? Unfortunately for supporters, this remains to be seen and nothing has been announced.
There are probably hopes for further action High heelsability to garner attention on Netflix, and the fact that it didn’t make the top ten in its first week of streaming doesn’t seem like a good sign.
Netflix also doesn’t pick up canceled series as often as some like to think. Of course there are such cases Arrested Development and Designated survivor. Just this year, Netflix has seen calls from fans for other series like Showtime’s my Lord to be picked up.
But with Netflix deciding to order more episodes of the shows that were removed, it looks like it’s becoming less and less likely to happen.
Still, strange things have happened in the world of television. Plus, Stephen Amell seems genuinely passionate High heels and its survival, so maybe he has enough influence to set the gears in motion.
